What is Flock Safety?
Flock Safety is a public safety technology company that provides automated license plate/vehicle recognition (LPVR) cameras to assist law enforcement agencies with criminal investigations and public safety efforts. Unlike traditional surveillance cameras, Flock cameras capture license plate information and vehicle characteristics, including make, model, color, and other identifying features. This information can be used to identify vehicles associated with criminal activity, locate stolen vehicles, and develop investigative leads. The system also allows law enforcement to receive alerts when vehicles associated with certain law enforcement databases (Law Enforcement Information Network LEIN and National Crime Information Center NCIC) are detected. Unlike traditional surveillance systems, Flock Safety's standard ALPR cameras are not designed to identify individuals through facial recognition, record audio, or continuously record video; instead, they capture still images and vehicle information for law enforcement purposes.
