Appointments Committee: Consists of Three Members
1. Mayor
2. Mayor Pro-Tem
3. City Commissioner Liaison: For the Board with the open seat.
Process:
Residents within the City of Plymouth, or business owners in the City of Plymouth for the DDA or CIA districts, must fill out an application online to be considered for an open position on a board.
When an application is received, the city clerk reviews it to ensure it is complete and the applicant is a resident of the City of Plymouth or has a business interest in the City of Plymouth for the DDA or the CIA districts.
A copy of the application is sent electronically to the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem. They will contact the candidate within five business days of receiving the application.
When reaching out to an applicant, it is key to dialogue with them about their interests and experiences that would best support specific boards.
The candidate is informed if a seat is currently open on any of the boards.
If a position is not open, then the candidate is notified that their application will be kept on file for two years.
If an open seat becomes available, then the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem will review the current applications and identify candidates who best support the board.
The three members of the Appointments Committee will review the applicants and discuss the potential candidates. Each committee member will interview the candidates separately. Once completed, they will reconvene to discuss and identify the best candidate.
The Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tem will contact the Chair of the respective board to discuss.
Once a candidate has been identified for nomination, they are contacted to inquire if they will accept the nomination to the board.
Then the Mayor will nominate the appointment at the next City Commission meeting for a vote.
Once confirmed, the City Clerk will have them sworn in and ensure the required paperwork is completed, before participating in any actions of the board.

City of Plymouth Boards and Commissions provide a way that residents can participate in their government. Appointed Boards and Commissions can best serve the city when they are fully aware of the strategic plan and priorities of the City Commission.
Ethics Ordinance: Each Board and Commission member shall sign an acknowledgement form stating that they have read the ethics ordinance and understand its purpose.
