City of Plymouth: Road & Rail Construction Updates and Election Updates

Please be aware of several upcoming road and rail construction projects that may impact your commute in and around the Plymouth community. The schedule of work is subject to change as a result of weather, crew availability, materials, and equipment.
CSX Railroad Closures
CSX will be conducting repairs at four grade crossings. Each closure is a full closure for one week. The schedule is subject to change.
Farmer Street: Starts Friday, September 26th, 2025.
Main Street: Starts Monday, October 6th, 2025.
Starkweather Road: Starts Monday, October 13th, 2025.
Mill Road: Starts Monday, October 20th, 2025.
Wayne County Construction
Sheldon Road: The inner lanes will be closed from Monday, September 22nd to Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, between Joy Road and Ann Arbor Road. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. For more information, call 888.ROAD.CREW (888-762-3273).
M-14/I-96 Reconstruction: The major rebuilding project on the eastbound lanes from Sheldon Road to Newburgh Road is ongoing. Expect delays and plan alternate routes.
City Resurfacing Project
The City's "mill and fill" resurfacing project begins Thursday, September 25th, 2025. Work will take place on:
Main Street: Patches between Church Street and the railroad tracks.
Farmer Intersections: At Starkweather and Pacific, plus two small patch areas.
Sheridan/Evergreen: Patches east and south of the intersection.
Milling is expected to take two days, leaving an uneven surface over the weekend. Paving is scheduled to begin the week of September 30th.
Ballots are in the Mail: A Message from City Clerk Maureen Brodie
Ballots for the November 4th City of Plymouth General Election have been mailed to all eligible residents!
- If you are on the permanent absentee list or have already applied, your ballot should arrive by early October. You can track your ballot's status online to confirm when it was sent and received back at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Voter/Index.
- City of Plymouth residents can return their ballot by mail or by dropping it off at Plymouth City Hall (201 S. Main St.). A 24/7 drop box is located at the Church St. entrance.
- Please return your ballot by 8 p.m. on November 4th for your vote to count.
- If you still need to apply for a ballot, you can do so online at the link above or in person at City Hall.
A primary election will be held on Tuesday, November 4 for candidates for the office of: CITY COMMISSIONER.
